When a video consultation works well
- Follow-up visits — checking how you are responding to treatment, and talking through your results and what happens next.
- Chronic care reviews — for stable conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure, especially if you can share recent readings. If a reading is much higher or lower than usual, call us rather than waiting for your video slot.
- Second opinions, and questions about a diagnosis or treatment plan.
When you should come in instead
A video call cannot replace an examination, and it is never the right choice in an emergency. Come straight to casualty — open 24 hours a day — or call +254 721 600700 for chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe pain, heavy bleeding, signs of a stroke (a drooping face, weakness in an arm, or slurred or confused speech, even if they pass), a fit, a blood pressure reading of 180/120 or higher with a severe headache, chest pain or blurred vision, any fever of 38°C or higher in a baby under 3 months, a feverish child who is drowsy, breathing fast, not feeding or has a rash that does not fade when pressed, or anything that feels like an emergency. Do not wait for a video appointment. If your clinician needs to examine you or run tests, they will ask you to visit.

- We confirm a time with you by phone or WhatsApp, usually within the hour.
- Find a quiet, well-lit, private spot, and have your medicines and any recent readings or results to hand.
Medicines after your consultation
If you need medicines, our in-house pharmacy has a licensed pharmacist check every prescription, and can deliver — free on orders of KSh 2,000 and above — or you can collect at the hospital at any hour.
